    Neta de italianos, Nair Bello Sousa Francisco começou a trabalhar como locutora na Rádio Excelsior quando tinha 18 anos. Logo depois estreou na TV como garota propaganda.

    No cinema, sua primeira aparição foi em "Liana, a Pecadora" (1951) e no teatro em "Alegro Desbum" (1976). Destacou-se em programas humorísticos e telenovelas da Rede Globo. Em 2006 fazia parte do programa "Zorra Total" no papel de Dona Santinha e iniciava sua participação nas gravações da novela "Pé na Jaca", quando adoeceu.

    Alegre e extrovertida, a comediante gostava de roupas coloridas, mas não usava marrom, por superstição. Amiga de Hebe Camargo, tinha o sonho de fazer uma peça com a "comadre", assim como um filme contando a sua história.

    No dia 11 de novembro de 2006 a atriz sofreu uma parada cardiorrespiratória quando estava em um salão de beleza em São Paulo. Atendida pelo Corpo de Bombeiros foi encaminhada ao hospital.

    Durante os cinco meses que esteve internada, chegou a apresentar melhoras na sua recuperação, ando alguns períodos consciente e sem a ajuda de aparelhos. No final de março seu quadro clínico piorou e, no dia 17 de abril de 2007, aos 75 anos, ela morreu.

    Em mais de 50 anos de carreira, Nair Bello participou de filmes e, na televisão, de várias novelas e minisséries. As personagens ítalo-paulistanas eram aquelas que desempenhava à perfeição.
